Things You Should Know

  1. Do NOT wear any kind of scent as it can make deep breathing for singing difficult -- and some members are highly allergic.
  2. The director makes a point of starting and ending on time. If you are late, warm up your voice on the way.
  3. We supply each member with:
    • a member phone and address list, which is to be used for chorus business only.
    • a music packet with words, written music and a schedule for rehearsals and performances
    • practice CD for working on the songs outside of rehearsal
  4. Music packets are not used during rehearsals. These are for your use outside of rehearsals only. You may want to bring your music packet to rehearsal to make notes. Nevertheless, trust the process -- you really do learn the music and words better by learning them “by heart” from the beginning.
  5. We make hardcopies for (or phone calls to) any non-emailing members so that they receive all the information that we send out by email.
  6. We set up a “buddy” system for members, matching newcomers with returning members as much as possible. Call/email your buddy first if you have questions about anything throughout the series. Or call/email someone someone else on the chorus list before you contact us. This limits the number of calls/emails our director needs to answer so she can stay focused on the creative work we depend upon her to do. You can also go to our website to see if your question is answered there.
  7. We form carpools as much as possible.
  8. We have chorus t-shirts and kazoos for each member available by donation (suggested $10/shirt, $2/kazoo).
  9. You may bring a copy or copies of information about non-chorus events, your own business, etc., to put on the “Networking Table” to share with chorus members.

Rehearsal Locations

  1. For the Central rehearsals the chorus meets Mondays in the Chapel at
    St Mark's Presbyterian Church,
3809 E 3rd St (SW of Alvernon and Speedway).
    Car pool opportunities are available.

  2. The Northwest rehearsals on Thursday have been discontinued.
